Why create a design system?

VizExplorer was in need of a centralized place to find visual specifications in order to be consistent in its brand and look. I went and created a design system that would help developers and designers stay within the visual guidelines for VizExplorer. The design system was the first cross-product design system resulting in a 40% reduction in the number of redundant components needed to be developed across all products for desktop and mobile applications
